OnLive? More like OnDead.

Via Dubious Quality [dubiousquality.blogspot.com]:

“Details of the OnLive launch were released today, and I have a hard time understanding why anyone would still be interested.

First off, there’s a monthly “service fee” of $14.95.

What does the monthly service fee get you? According to OnLive’s website, it includes access to game demos, video profiles, and community features.

What does it not get you access to? Games.”

Go read more there. Suffice to say I have no remaining interest in this product.

I had never even heard of the service before, I saw his post and it barely registered a blip on my radar.

The product was announced last year around this time and made waves in most of the game blogs I read. I commented on it here: http://www.muchlessthanthree.com/?p=283 but mostly just to make the point that I didn’t see how the tech was going to work. Now that I’ve seen the price, the tech doesn’t matter anyway… :P

There’s another competitor who’s trying to do basically the same thing via Flash, in browser. No price announcements that I’m aware of for that one yet, tho.
